BKRS-SOP

The purpose of the BKRS Standard Operating procedure is to provide recommendations for standardized data collection in farms and research projects both ongoing and about to start.

Farmers and researchers within BKRS are trialing different array types and experimental designs to cultivate bull kelp, The differences in these designs make it difficult to make direct scientific comparisons between systems. Establishing an SOP for data collection ensures that data on farms and in systems is being collected in a comparable way to determine best practices for farming bull kelp.

Last Updated March 31, 2025 - This document is an evolving document. It is currently focused on providing guidelines for the 2025 harvest season, but will continue to be edited and refined as we move into future harvest seasons and learn more about bull kelp.
